RVThere thanks for you reply and support

This is a bit off topic, but you might be interested in what we do at home in the summer (I am in Florida right now)...I coordinate and run a 2 week Fly Fishing Camp using a partnership between our local Trout Unlimited chapter and the the area Parks and Recreation Departmment. This camp is focused on 8 to 12 year kids and only costs the parent $125. We provide a full scholarship for those who cannot afford the fee. It has been a success since 2001. My assistant and teacher also does the same thing, but it is a Bass Fishing camp. We have worked with local Boy Scout and Cub Scout troops to help the kids earn their merit badges and enjoy our program. Let me know if you want more details.

I will seriously take your comments to thought. There might be something that can be done.

My two cents...as we reach retirement age and are classified as Seniors we can reflect back on the 65+ years of working and paying taxes. We will definately have less income in our retirement years than when we were working. We have supported our states with taxes, fishing licenses, hunting licenses, migratory bird stamps just to name a few. I think it is about time we got a break. Some states do give Seniors a break but not all. We've paid, paid, paid and paid some more. We need a give us a break coalition.

Free Fish

I'm all for it--as long as the age requirement is for the fisher and not the fish.

The major stumbling block to this endeavor will be getting each state's DNR on-board. Each has their own agenda, rules, funding method, etc. I hope your proposal succeeds! Upon reflection, your proposal may be to logical for politicians to comprehend.

Thumbs up

Even though I don't like to see Government involved any more, I really would like to be able to fish more as we travel. However I suggest the solution taken by Texas State Parks,( if it is still in effect), where fishing is included in you campground registration. I understand that it is bank fishing only, and applies only as long as you are registered. it does not include fishing from boats or commercial. I especially think that this should be applied for seniors, maybe must have senior resident state fishing license. Most of us are just fishing catch and release anyway.
