Yellowstone NP in Sept

Planning to visit in September. Looking on line it appears there are only two (Mammoth Hot Springs and Fishing Bridge) campgrounds within the park that can handle 35' rigs. I don't see anything about slides, whether you can or can't use them. Any info is greatly appreciated.

As a suggestion....

We were there last year for our family vacation. We stayed at Flagg Ranch Campground. It wasn't anything special, but we really didn't spend a tremendous amount of time at the campground. We were too busy exploring Yellowstone.

Flagg Ranch was about 5 miles south of the south entrance and was very convenient getting into and out of the park each day. As a side note, staying at Flagg Ranch would allow you to explore the Grand Tetons as well, if you have time, that is.

Yellowstone NP in Sept

Never been to either, but here are pictures of each campground showing rv's with slides extended. Found them on Google. We stayed at a campground in West Yellowstone.

If you have the golden age pass, it will get you in the park free, but the Fishing bridge camp does not accept the pass. You will pay full price, about $46.00/night.

Plenty of room at Fishing Bridge.

This is the response I received concerning my inquiry from the National Park Service:

Mid September can still be quite busy in Yellowstone, and some campgrounds still fill up, though that can be weather dependent. By late September the crowds are beginning to diminish, but quite a few services close for the season after the last weekend in September, putting more pressure on available services.

The month of September gets busier every year with more and more traveling retirees, and those just waiting until kids are back in school in order to travel. Reservations are advised, and for some services reservations might not be available any longer.

A copy of our fall 2013 park newspaper is in the mail to you.

Enjoy your visit to Yellowstone National Park.

We are going to Yellowstone in Sept this year also. We are spending a week at Grizzly RV Park, West Yellowstone.

Whatever time you think that you will need to see Y’stone NP you better double it!

Remember the Grand Loop (figure 8) road is about 170 miles around. With a 45mph speed (radar controlled) limit and all the thermal attractions and the altitude (Canyon Area is 7918 ft, Old Faithful is 7365 ft and Mammoth Area is only 6239 ft) it will take a full day for each loop, when walking take it easy as it can be very exhausting, then you will only see the highlights. If your luck is like mine I guarantee that Old Faithful will have gone off just minutes before you arrived and will have to wait about another hour and 10-15 minutes for it to go off again kill time by walking around the upper geyser basin. When you are at Old faithful be sure to go into the Old Faithful Inn and look up when inside. When in the visitor center or the Inn they will have a sign displaying approximately when the next eruption will occur (+ or – about 10/15 minutes)

We have lived about 110 miles from the West Y’stone entrance for 50 years and go there a couple of times each summer and I still haven’t seen everything yet.
