Thanks for posting. I got a real kick out of watching them last year. I just hope another spider doesn't die on the lens this year.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

..I have been watching the Norfolk Botanical Garden Eagles each day for a bit. It is amazing the stuff I have learned about eagles so far! There are now two eggs with the chance of a third egg to be layed tomorrow, February 6th or possibly as late as Sunday.

The bad thing is I wasn't paying attention early enough to get one of their Eagle calendars. (The calendar proceeds from the sale of "The Garden of Eagles” 2010 Calendar went to support the work of the Wildlife Center of Virginia with Bald Eagles...which is where "Buddy" resides and Buddy has a story of his own to learn about) They will do another reprint if they get another 100 to sign up..so that is what I am hoping for!!

Anyway...Here is a calendar page of one of the parents that was taken last year. It is probably Dad more than likely - carrying a branch back to the nest...

PNWGirl..the cam is down at this moment- and that is probably due to the storm they are having (calling for snow) but usually there is an IR light that helps the camera out at night.

The Cam is up and working today. A third egg was also layed during the snow storm. There is one nest in WV that is covered in snow -just like the one in Maryland.

DUHHHH ..what was I thinking??
You can email me (click on my profile to get the email) or...You can request information by sending an e-mail to Congowings here or at rhuwa@wildlifecenter.org . "Congowings" would be the best person to email directly. I would only forward the email to her. I do need to see if I can share something else that I have - so check back here for more info - but in the meantime...you may want to look in on the eagles here

Saturday was probably a very high-stress day for many involved with the eagles on the east coast due to the snow..I do hope the weather is not so brutal for everyone (human and bird) on Sunday.
Sidenote- I did find out these parents have laid more than three eggs before- so who knows... someone here may see a fourth egg born!

MM,

I noticed today that the Hanger I work at that the Great Horned Owls returned. They have used it for a home in the spring and summer for mating. They have scared the !@#$ out me by swooping low over my head. Nothing like having a 4 ft wing span flap by you in the dark.

CorsairIIAT..I plan on putting a map up that has some eagle nest locations along with links to each webcam included in the nest marker sometime tomorrow...too bad there isn't a webcam at the hanger - I could include it!!

All I have to do is stand outside the door of my camper and watch the tree-line for a bit. There's 5 Bald eagles that live out here on Sauvie Island that I know of.

You can find three Eagle Nest markers on this map. Each marker has some information and a link to each Cam. I will add other markers soon...but I have loads of Monaco Brand PDFs to post and they come first over the eagles!!

Thanks for the link to the eagle nest. I forward to a couple of friends and they forwarded to others and we are all hooked.
DW and I took a drive yesterday on the "Great River Road", just north of St. Louis. The eagles come south to winter in this area and we saw 7 of them yesterday on that drive.
