You knew I was going to tell this story again

Most people don't know that back in 1912, Hellmann's mayonnaise was manufactured in England. In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico, which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after it's stop in New York.

This would have been the largest single shipment of Mayonnaise ever delivered to Mexico. But as we know the great ship did not make it to New York. The ship hit an iceberg and sank, and the cargo was lost.

The people of Mexico, who were crazy about mayonnaise, and were eagerly awaiting it's delivery, were disconsolate at the loss. Their anguish was so great, that they declared a National Day of Mourning, which they still observe on this day. That day we now know as Cinco de Mayo....and now you know the rest of the story.

I guess Mayonaise would go good with sea food! Maybe it wasn't an iceberg, it may have been the fish!

Haha....you got me until I read it out loud to my wife. She is Hispanic and is always telling me that Cinco de Mayo is not really the Mexican Independence day or any holiday for that matter, so I thought I was going to prove her wrong and I read your story to her......
