1974 Chinook 5er Question

Ok right now I have traded 5er's with my son so I can fix some things in the Komfort. Yesterday r last night was the first Snow and for some reason the RV smells like Fumes when the furnace is running. It is a Older 30k btu with Pilot but works (or did) So while it was running last night I went out and looked at the exhaust and it was coming out side with no problem but wasn't going up in the air but kind of staying right there and then the Fresh air intake was bringing it back in the 5er. It was seen. I then went to my Komfort so I could see what it looks like out side while running and it couildn't be seen but you could hear and feel that it was coming out of the exhaust. We haven't used the Chinook's heater this year until yesterday. Is that how it should be. Or should it be more like the Komfort's where it can be felt and heard but not seen? I have a feeling that the Chinook one needs to be Replaced however it heats the place up rather well, could it just be blowing the extra condinsation build up out is why it could be seen? Today it don't smell like it did last night. Anyone know. I really don't like to Pay 800+ for something that is working. Just needs to exhaust out a few times before the thing acts right? We use a Elect heater in most of the time. Will use the 5er's Furnace to warm up at night and in the morning. At this cold the Electric heater just isn't enough for keeping it really warm.

i would expect the exhast on your furnace to be clear except for condisation is it posible mud daubers got in and partialy pluged things up ? a warm air heator that has not ben used for some time will smell inside for a little while till the dust ect burns off. another posiblity is that the heat excanger has rusted through and you are getting products of combustion in the living space not good co can kill be carful lee

Seems to be clear. And the Exhaust isn't coming from the Exchanger it self. The smell has gone down today almost nothing and does smell more like just sitting a while more then Fumes. Only place it smells today is in the Rest room. Rest of the 5th wheel is clean smelling. It is old so may need to just replace it come next spring. Thank you for the Reply
