I take it you are talking about the fusible link at the starter solinoid (drivers side frame rail outboard the bell housing). As indicated in the drawings, the fusible link should be 14 gauge in order to
"protect" the 10 gauge wireing. Fusible links are always 4 gauges smaller than the wire they are protecting.

So a 10 gauge wire like S1-10RE (Circuit S1, 10 gauge, Red wire) would use a 14 gauge fusible link. Thats why you see the 14RE (14 gauge, red wire) on the wiring diagram between the starter solinoid and the fusible link flag.
If it keeps opening, then you have some sort of a high current draw problem that you need to fix. Otherwise, you run the risk of a electrical short creating a fire.
