Worked on the rear tank last night while fighting off large mutant june bugs and tiny mosquitoes. I had to lower the tank about halfway to scoot some of the lines away from a pinch point. Easy.
Today I installed two new plumbing vents on the roof before it got too hot. The roof is holding up nicely. Good to know my many hours of restoration years ago has paid off.
I removed the cassette deck which will make for a perfect spot for three gauges. I will mount the two fuel gauges below the dash to the right of the steering column.
My memory isn't what it used to be. I wired up the roof AC unit and couldn't figure out why I had cut the Romex where I had a plug installed. When I turned the switch I instantly remembered why I had done that. The roof unit is toast. The fan motor is bad and much of the metal is corroded. I was going to get a new unit years ago but things happened and I decided to leave the old one in place rather than have a hole in the roof. Grrrrrrr.
The other task I'm tackling is the dash AC controls and fan switch. I hope this goes smoothly and will just need a recharge. I found a place that will work on old systems because they have a stash of R12.
The last pic is of the backside of the control panel. Looks like fun! I might need my snake camera for this one.
Cheers,
Paul
