Hi folks, I bought a 1980 Class A Foretravel that was in pretty good shape and am now full timing in it, having a ball with my 9 month old yellow lab.
So far I have overhauled the 3208 cat, installed a Dinosaur board and replaced the cooling unit in the Dometic RM3663, installed solar panels and inverter, and fixed a bunch of minor problems.
I have invested about 22K so far, not counting my own labor, and it's going to take another 3K (knock on wood) before I am finished.
This RV was 158K new in 1980, and it looks like it. This is one top quality unit. All in all, I am a happy camper, and I encourage people not to overlook quality vintage RV's when shopping for an RV.

Very cool Doggie. There are some great possibilities with a quality vintage RV. Got any pictures? Also welcome to irv2!

Hi Doggie,

I am interested in purchasing a vintage RV too. I would appreciate if you could let me know about how much your solar paneling cost. Does it enable to travel in it without use of a generator?

Thanks
