1986 Winnie LeSharo

Hey guys! I'm new to the site, so I'm still learning. A lot of really cool stuff in here, though!

I have a 1986 Winnebago LeSharo and I would like to sell it. I live in SC, so there aren't that many RVers with the love and appreciation for what we have. It truly is a subculture! Ha. Anyway, my question is, where is the best place to offer her as "For Sale?" She has a rebuilt Renault 2.2L with 58k +/- miles and purrs like a kitten. The interior is a 8.5-9 out of 10. There was the dreaded roof leak, but it was only active for a few weeks before I caught it, leaving the wallpaper wavy. Also, I'm having trouble starting the generator, but that could be from sitting in a barn for 10 years, untouched.

Any help is REALLY appreciated. If this were the run-of-the-mill camper, I'd Craigslist it in a second. Alas, she's a jewel.

Thanks, and happy RVing!

Ted Harding

With wavy wallpaper and balky gen set, your "8.5-9/10" and "jewel" ratings may be a bit overstated.

The gen set isn't THAT big a deal, but any sign of water intrusion damage is a huge red flag here. Rarely are problems like that able to be repaired economically, and 99% of them progressively continue to get worse - even if they are believed to be repaired.

I'd look for a dealer specializing in consignment sales - and not get my hopes up too high regarding finding a "cult" member willing to pay top dollar for a coach like this. That's me though...

Best of luck.

I'm afraid you might have to pay someone to take it. That 2.2 Renault is long gone from the marketplace. I had a Renault station wagon with that motor and it was an endless headache. I gave the car away eventually.

Wow... I thank you for your brutally honest replies. I feel very depressed after reading these. I'll just scrap it, if that's what seems to be the general consensus.

"Scraping it" might be a bit extreme. As were the ratings given previously. Still suggest you consider taking it to somebody that might put a more impartial value on it. Consignment lots generally get much more traffic than you might, exposing the coach to more people that are actually active shoppers. If anyone can sell it, they can.

My daughter just sold her La Sharo in Seattle for more than she was asking. There is a die hard group of la Sharo fans out there. Don't let a few of the fancy toy boys discourage you.
