1988 P30 KOMFORT 454 Mechanical Fuel Pump - Can't find 1/2 Inlet Pump...

Hey people... loooong time lurker.

I'm onto my second RV, a 31 Foot 1989 KOMFORT Trendsetter based on the GM P30 frame with a 454 engine.

This beast of a RV has had numerous fuel issues which I am working on resolving and I plan on replacing the mechanical fuel pump on the side of the engine, but am having a problem locating the correct one...

I've tried all the local part stores, had employees pulling all the mechanical fuel pumps they have, trying to find the correct one, all with no luck.

The pump installed on the RV and what I assume is the original pump, doesn't have any part numbers on it looks like your typical run of the mill GM mechanical fuel pump, BUT it has a 1/2 inch fuel line INLET and a non-restricted return line. I bought a new pump, Part Number 40963, but it has a 3/8 fuel inlet and a restricted return line. The pump which I had removed and taken with me to the store, clearly has a 1/2 inlet tube and a wide opened return line... I've browsed eBay, Rock Auto, Amazon, Google, SummitRacing and can't find a pump with the 1/2 inlet. I know for a fact that the inlet is actually a half inch line, as the short piece going from the frame to the engine fuel pump is even marked as 1/2 on the side and I've measured it myself.

I replaced the electric helper pump in the back, it was also 1/2 in and out... why this RV needs such an oversized fuel line is beyond me, but I guess its better to have to too big than too small.

Any help on where to find one, or just the correct part number would be welcomed. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply.

The fuel pump you referenced is the same one I keep coming across, which only has a 3/8 fuel input.

I spent the night doing some serious searching and came across the following pump, M60480, which my local parts store happened to have. It isn't listed as being a compatible part for my RV, but its the closest I have found so far.

It is a very close to the fuel pump I am looking for, it has a 1/2 input but has a restricted return line which I may leave as is or may possibly drill out a bit to get it closer to the one currently installed.

If anyone has the same problem, you can try the part number above, or according to online sources, this pump was used in the following vehicles but for some reason wouldn't show up in any car parts database as fitting a 88 P30.
