I have a 95 with the same P37 Chassis. It says the fan is for cooling at low speeds when A/C unit is on for additional cooling. I have not looked for the sensor but will do so shortly. I have it wired manual for when I am sitting and the temp starts to climb. when I start moving again I turn it off.

On my 1990 GB it has 2 factory installed electric fans, They both come on at the same time. They are hooked up to through a relay which is tied to a switch on the A/C unit. Once the temp gets high enough the switch on the A/C unit goes to ground which then grounds the relay and turns on the electric fans. A while back I added manual switches on the dash to turn them on from inside. all it does is run the relay to ground and the fans come on. I never have seen the electric fans make and difference in cooling while going down the road, so I believe it is to add cooling for the A/C unit when idling.

My 1993 Bounder 454 came new with a clutch fan and two electric fans. I never use the dash air conditioning, but the electric fans will still cycle on and off.

AtekorS, as you can see, many GM RVs had electric fans in addition to the belt driven fan. The telling thing about them is they generally seem controlled by a thermal switch. None reported that they come on with the ignition switch, some with the air conditioner. They should not be running as you engage the starter. You'll have to trace the wiring and see if you have a previous owner modification or a bad thermal switch.
