1988 Sedona electric steps no go

Hi from Melbourne , Oz. I have a 1988 Country coach Sedona SE and elec steps stopped working. Have power ok and through switch plus door micro switch ok. Appears control unit and / or motor. Tried checking power to motor and nothing registered. Kwikee steps model 3255.
Any ideas where I get these parts as seem to be having difficulty

cheers and Happy New Year

Hello!
There is a safety lock out that is triggered by the ignition switch to retract the steps. It is a yellow wire, check to see if it has 12volts on it. If it does that is the problem. The motor for the steps are a power window motor from a GM or Ford car and there will be a model number on it to tell you which it is. A good auto -parts store or auto recycle yard will help.

That is likely an older version that has 3 wires to motor.

Ground and 2 hots with one for open and one for close.

Unplug motor and check for volts at plug.

You can supply 12 volts to motor plug to test but be careful as it can hurt you.

There is a pin in the end of the arm that connects the gearbox lever to the axle nearest you when looking from outside.

Pull that pin and steps move freely so yiu can work on them and not get clobbered.

Look at the sides of the unit for 1/4 inch holes that line up with steps both up and down.

These are to use when motor not working.

You pull pin and insert it with keeper in holes to lock step either up or down.

On our 1987 kwikee step the motor has only 2 wires, one is "up" and one is "down" when power is applied to one pin or the other on the motor, ground (-) is the body of the motor.
