thanks Greg.

I have rebuilt my shifter twice on my own.......but the aluminum end caps are so corroded that there is no point in rebuilding it now. I too, priced out a new one and was shocked at the price. Saw your post about a manual shift cable and was very curious about the modification. Sounds to me as the perfect fix! thanks for your quick response.

just curious if you would be interested in selling your old shifter.....between mine and yours i may be able to rebuild into one working unit....as long as the aluminum end caps on yours are still good.
