1989 Holiday Rambler 25 WB Electrical Problem

Original owners of coach. All was good and now we have a problem with our lighting. Interior lights work with shore power but not with battery power. New coach batteries installed. Furnace and fridge fire off without shore power, but not lighting. Driving us crazy!

Welcome to , iRV2.
Sorry you're here with problems.

From your description , the converter/charger is doing it's job, powering the coach when plugged in.
Battery power how ever is not getting everywhere it should be.
Was this a problem before the batteries were installed?
Any chance a power wire was left off the batteries or that there is a bad connection at one of the wires ?

Well Hag,

She's old enough to drink, vote and be a consenting adult. My guess would go just a little longer than above. Go into the battery space and look for the wire that they didn't put back on.

If you don't find that, look for the house fuses. Check both sides of all of those. If you find one that looks good, but there isn't any juice on the other side, clean the fuse holder. The clips get old and corroded. I like a .22/.25 wire brush for cleaning them.

Before you are done, you will have to take apart a whole bunch of junctions and clean and reassemble them.

Before the depression killed us here, I did a lot of that on boats. Same - Same.

Matt

I have a 1988 Holiday Rambler 25' and recently my 12 volt battery charger stopped working. It's a Parralax 40 amp. The red wire from the converter sends power to charge the batteries and the blue wire sends power to the 12 volt fuse panel for the coach 12 volt systems. There is an automatic reset breaker on the blue wire so maybe yours is bad. My problem was a ceramic resistor inside the converter. I found one that fit an old dodge ignition system that I replaced it with and now my charger is workin properly.
