1989 Southwind Project
I have had the RV for a whole week now, and have started on lots of projects. I will start with a few "before" pictures.
What you can't see very well are the cobwebs, and dust that accumulated after sitting for 2 years.
There has been lots of cleaning and polishing.
I got a great black streak remover from Menards, and the exterior looks amazingly different already!
She gets to make her first road trip this coming weekend.

Hey, we've got an '89 Southwind too! We've spent a good part of this last year redecorating, and now we've got just a few things left to do before we take off full-timing.
I've been saving the "after" pictures until the interior is cleaned up and the Red Max Pro is on the exterior.

I replaced all of the door handles and pulls inside.
I was rather amazed to find that my interior has almost 30 cabinets, and 20 drawers!
I painted all of the interior walls.
I took off all that old wallpaper and tiled all around the kitchen area.
(thats my favorite project so far!)
I bought a 4" thick memory foam mattress for the bedroom, and new bedding.
I am going to reupholster the dinette and the sofa.
Another project will be replacing the floor. I've decided to go with the Allure flooring from Home Depot.
I am also going to re-do the headliner.
I'll take some pictures this weekend and post some of my "updates"!

Looking great! Sounds like you are doing most the projects we are planning on our 86 motorhome. You will LOVE your allure flooring! We put it in our bathroom in our house...I love it!! We're planning on putting it in our camper also.
We just need more hours each day to get everything done!
Enjoy!

Beautiful work. Makes a major impact. How much weight did that add to the rv?

Great looking kitchen area!!
What paint did you use to paint the other interior walls with? Our 87 Bounder has that original stuck on vinyl looking stuff & we will be re decorating too, intrigued as to what you used!!

Its a glass tile. Very lightweight. I would doubt if it even added 10 pounds.
I bought it at home depot, and it came in 1 foot sheets. It took 7 sheets to finish.

I bought just regular latex wall paint.
I knew I didn't need a gallon, so I
bought 4 small jars of sample paint from home depot. (2 coordinating colors)
I painted right over the wallpaper in the bathroom.
And the wallpaper in the rest of the coach was the "paintable" style.

In re; painting over the South wind's wall paper.
My own experience was sadly mixed. The bathroom had that peeling vinyl contact paper stuff, which I laboriously peeled back until it was to the "solidly stuck" part (in other words, I had to leave some of it). Even tried using a hair dryer on it (no results- it only strretttttccchhed the already unstuck portions, without getting any more to release.
I then painted and papered with a border.
A year later, the paint still has great adhesion, but the vinyl has continued to peel in places.

Hey Chief;
I think you mentioned some seat covers on another thread. (Captains chairs)
Was that you?
If so, where did you get them?
