Info where they were made and any
Bad things about them etv. Thanks!
Mobile Traveler did "die" in 1990. The banks financing the resurrection from its bankruptcy in 1989 suddenly and without giving reason pulled the plug after 15 of the MTs were made for 1990.
One of the reasons MT died, was a lawsuit by 'fleetwood industries' over usage of a 1983 Pace Arrow purchased by MT. So? what does that have to do woth it you aks? MT purchased a 83 P.A. then took it too their plant, disassembled it, copied parts, plans etc, and a few months later the Viscount Class A motor home was born. The Viscount was a highline Class A that lasted 2 years, then went away, to be replaced by "Mobilt Traveler" and "Mobile Traveler II" coaches. Zimmer Industries helped to kill MT the first time around building such classics as the "Astron" which sold for 110,000 dollars in 1984! It was FWD ans used a Peugeot V6 engine. It didnt sell well, despite being a top of the line model with altimeter, pneumatic opening door central vau system and other items such as central air conditioning heating.
Mobile traveler was mismanaged and Zimmer made them manfacture products that were way overpriced for the market MT was competing in.
I used to work there, and I maintain informal pages about MT and I also help other owners with MT products. If you need help, give me a shout.
That particular MT you cited has a John Deere Chassis, a 454 Chevy and either a 4bbl or a throttle body GM Fuel injection system. All of them had dash A/C and HEI ignition.
Was with MT in the 80s... fond memories. lol
