not related to your problem, but do you have a remote start on your N66G?
I have the same genset in my 96 Damon Intruder and can't find a remote. Kind of a pain having to go outside to start / stop it.

There were 2 models of remotes for the NP & Q series. The Model 9042 (switch & light) and Model 9043 (switch, light & hour meter). Described on pdf page 14 of http://gen-parts.com/Manuals/Y78800.pdf. I have a hunch this is a Model 9043 GENERAC GENERATOR REMOTE SWITCH | eBay

You might want to inquire with the seller.

Yes I have the remote start with an hourmeter and a red light that is on when the gen is running. I think my switch is faulty, I can stop the gen from inside but I cannot start it from inside
