Well we went to the desert for Prez weekend on a maiden voyage. The coach on flat ground runs at 210 degrees, on the grades it was borderline prior to the red. Anybody else run into this on the 454's? It ran great, tons of power, but I did not like the temp gauge. Not even towing yet.

My 454 runs hot but only up steep grades. On flat ground it is 195 all day long. Are you towing? Time to start investigating.

I would like to add,
I have a 82 PA and have the 454. My right Manifold Gasket was bad when I bought her so that was the first thing I had fixed. It only lasted a year but they fixed it again under there Warranty.
The second type Gasket they used had a metal Ring around the hole. That was 3 years ago and have not heard it since.
I would also check your Fuel Filters. Mine put us on the side of the road late night on a Sunday in no-mans-land.
There are 3 on mine 2 under the Body (Duel tanks) and the 3rd is on the carb.
I can't tell you how hot it runs by degrees because my gauge only has Cold mark ,halfway mark and HOT. Mine runs at the 1/2 mark all the time pulling the toad or not. I bought a new Cap and it has a Temp gauge on the top but it didn't fit
Hope this was some help anyway,
Tim

Please provide documentation regarding all manifolds cracking. And please specify which manifold: intake, L exhaust, R exhaust, water distribution?????
The exhaust manifold. Mine broke at 40k miles. From what I remember, the factory over worked the nuts. The manifold needs room to move. I replaced mine with a Banks. It also ran a little hot also. After the new manifold the temp went down a few.
This RV was easy to drive. The one down point was the bath too small.

Thanks for the input. I am going to address the heating problem next, but wrapping up Battery upgrade first. See attachment.
