454 hose identification

Hi All - time for some uneducated questions!

Chevy 454

These hoses I’m pointing to - they’re vacuum lines correct? I was trying to change out the fuel filter before the carb but didn’t have the correct flare wrenches (5/8 and 1 inch I believe?) these lines are rotted though and are falling apart - time to replace - I see a hose diagram on top of air intake but wanted to double check!

They sure seem to be. Only a few things interact with that quadrajet: fuel, vacuum, and gremlins.

Fuel line at carb is a 3/8" steel line......there's a filter inside the big nut where the fuel line connects to the carb.......the other smaller lines are vacuum....where your pointing at in the 2nd pic is the inlet, and I beleive it's a 15/16 size......I've rebuilt so many of those through the years.....weak spot for that carb is the float....they make a brass replacement one, and between the carb base and bowl, there are two alum press in plugs that block off factory drilled passages that often seep fuel....they also make replacement plugs that have an o ring to seal them up......when putting filter fitting back in, be careful about over tightening....also, if the idle mixture plugs are still in, they can be removed with the carb off......

thanks Bob - just to confirm the two nuts holding the fuel filter in are 3/8 and 15/16?
I need to order them to swap out this filter - i've been told 5/8 and 1 inch flare wrenches are needed?

thanks again

Do you live in an emissions testing state? If not, several of those lines can be eliminated. You need a vacuum line from the carb to the vacuum advance on the distributor. Evaporative emissions canister...egr valve would be good to keep...
