71 D-20 Water heater??

Ok to fill you all in I aquired a 1971 Winne D-20 for free. It drove ok and loooks good but interior and anything to do with functionality is either been removed or is not working at the moment. I seen a pic of the 6 gallon water heater being under the kitchen sink area. Is that where I should look? I also see the water tank looks like a round tank but mine is a rectangular plactic tank under the bed area. they re did teh bed area to make it a double or queen size and nailed the boards down so I cannot access the front side of the tank I can only see it fromn the back storage type door. I am trying to trouble shoot and replace non repairable items and all bad wiring, propane lines, water lines etc. so I am hoping Winnebago service can assist me in schematics or repair manuals etc.
So any help anyone can lend me will be appreciated as I am at a bigger disadvantage having the unit user modified so I have no idea where items are of if they are even actually there anymore.
