77 Dodge Cruise Control

Hi I have a 1977 Dodge Cruisemaster RV. Recently had doghouse cover off to repair Engine coil.Noticed a round disk like 2 in thick ,attatched to throttle.It has vacum hoses comming off it. A mechanic tells me this is for the Cruise Control.Ive tried several times on the highway to get the Cruise to switch on.But the mecanic said the linkage wasn't attatched to the vaccum.When I press on the gas the link to the disk goes slack.Should this happen? Not sure how to trace this out.Here are some pics.

Original Cruise Control was Perfect Circle Brand (no longer in buisness). There is some usefull information (pdf format) under the files section over on the Yahoo site for SportsCoach Enthusiasts vintagesportscoach : Vintage Sportscoach Owners
You would have to join the site to gain access to the files. Once in the files section look for files that contain "Perfect Circle" in them.
The control box is most likely mounted on the drivers side frame rail. The vacuum hose from the bladder connected to the carb linkage, the wiring from the steering column switch, and the speedometer cable will be connected to it.

Yes we joined the site and found the file needed. This diagram will help very much in fixing this.I already checked + for power going to the fuse.So it's a start . Manny thanks Dave78Chief!
