I just bought about a month ago and trying to make sure everything is operating properly and ran into an electrical issue and i don't know of any way to look up manuals our anything on this. I have power to everything when it is plugged into shore line power but when i try to use just generator power nothing will turn on and my generator is putting out 120 bolts but I don't know where its going. Anything would be helpful at this moment. Thanks.

Where your power cable enters the coach do you have a black box, with a marking of Power relay ? Or transfer switch ?
Some older lower line coaches , did not use these switches / relays, but required the power cord be plugged in to an outlet in the bay in order to power the coach from the gen set.
I'll post a picture of my power bay to show you what it looks like.

Here is a picture of my power bay.
Power switch, just left of center, black cable into bottom is shore power , grey cable is from generator. When generator runs , switch automatically switches to that power source.

Wow. Mine looks nothing like that. That is what i was thinking about doing but didn't know if that was safe. But none of my plugs get power at all with my generator. I have searched all over for a transfer switch of some kind but i have ran out of places to look. I will try to post pic this afternoon to let you see. Thanks.
Any factory transfer switch would be between the shore power cable and the 110volt circuit breaker panel. Or in the case of a manual switch , maybe built into the panel its self.

You sure a 1979 model has a Transfer switch? Was not a common RV item in the 70's. I suspect there is a generator receptacle in the same bay as the shore power cable that you plug your shore power cable into.
