Caught a warm day...
...3 days before Christmas here in SW Ohio. Got up into the 60's with sun today, so I got back up on the roof to get more sealing done on the AC project. I used eternabond's spray cleaner, primer and 4" white tape. Pictures about say it all for now...Sorry for the poor cellphone pics. Thanks for looking!

And a couple more to show where I left off today....
...and I got a tube of eternabond caulk that I may use to go over the outer edges, just for another layer of insurance. I don't want to do this job again!

Well, it looks like winter rain has settled in, so it may be a few days before I can resume this job, but when I do I will post pics!

A couple hours of sunshine and above freezing temps, so I got up on the HR roof this afternoon. I scraped all the silicone caulk off the ac unit, and also cleaned all the loose rust and scale off the bottom of the ac frame. If it gets warmer I will paint it with the rust converter and then some automotive paint to seal it up against the weather.
If you saw the earlier pictures the small aluminum ac vent was crushed and distorted by the po. I removed it and it is in the first 2 pictures below. After 30 minutes with a bodywork hammer and a small anvil, it is useable again. Not perfect, but a heap sight better than before. I will be reinstalling it with aluminum tape when the ac unit gets reinstalled.
Thanks for looking and I hope to have it all reinstalled soon....will post pics as we go.

Great work. And love that Eternabond tape. That stuff will seal anything.

Good Job, somehow one of my hub caps got smashed on the way to Quartzsite. I'll attempt to get it straightened out. If I can't I'll send it too ya you did a great job getting that straightened out.
Happy New Year,
Tim

After doing all this work I'm not to sure that I would put the old AC back on. Especially if it's the front one because the 15,000 BTU would be so much better.

Yep, I know the ac unit works, but not sure how well. While I have it off I will clean all the coils, condenser and filters, etc. If it is not efficient, will look for replacement. Thanks!

Finally warm enough to get back at it
So....I got a coat of aluminized rustoleum on the base of the AC unit, and the first coat of koolseal over the eternabond repairs. It should be warm enough tomorrow to get another coat on....and then the reinstall begins! My dw is hoping to start on painting the interior tomorrow also.

Well, the front AC is finally finished....guess I'll have to start on the rear one next.
I reinstalled the AC unit on the roof, and tightened the 3 bolts to compress the new gasket. I then installed the aluminum vent tube, and gorilla glue duct taped it to the frame to eliminate any air gaps.
Will have to wait for hot weather to see how well it cools, but all the controls work well. thanks for looking!
