'85 Pace Arrow 34' Radio

Is it (radio) standard to have a power amp booster under the steering side dash for this RV? Seems like a lot of wiring just for a radio. Obviously I'm not familiar with this kind of system. Can I just remove it all (amp and radio) and replace it with a basic AM/FM CD system? Less wiring=easier install and less confusion under the dash.
Thanks in advance, Buck

I had that system on my Pace Arrow. You don't need the booster and all of the wiring. Upgrade to the CD/IPOD system, upgrade the speakers also.

Hi GoldWinger2,

I just joined this forum because I recently bought a 1988 Pace Arrow. It's very similar to yours. Mine is all original, which is nice, but the stereo is not so great. Would you mind telling me what you used in yours to upgrade? I have not been under the dash yet so I don't know if I have an amp too. I have an old Fujitsu Ten tape deck.

Thank you,
Ryan

I too had the Fuji-Ten, snatched it out ASAP and installed a Sony.
I have the Sony model CDX-GT51W, I bought it back in '06. It has four channels, 52 watts per channel, SAT ready, Aux in, and of course a Cd player. It also has the subwoofer channel, but I don't use that feature.
In my van I have the Sony CDX-GT42IPW, same specs but also has an IPOD connect feature. Both Sony's have a remote, with the IPOD ready model you can control the IPOD with the remote control. Many other stereos fit in the Pace, check out this site.

No, but they are ez to change. The front covers just pull off and you can replace the speakers only.
