AC pressure switch
Does anyone know who Holiday Rambler used to supply there dash ac systems? I have a 1989 Imperial on a P-30 chassis. Chevrolet can't find it, neither can any of my local RV dealerships. I've been in contact with Monaco with no luck. The pressure switch has enough of the id sticker missing as to negate identification of part numbers or manufacturer.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
Tim

Heres one place: http://www.theautopartsshop.com/auto...itch+1989.html

Yeah, did that. Went to 3 different Chevy dealers, with the old part in hand. No luck! Monaco says try salvage, and the RV dealers haven't a clue. Biggest issue is the plug. Has a pig tail with 3 female and 1 male plug on a small rectangular receptacle. I'll try to post a picture tomorrow. The dealers seem to hit a road block with the year. Seems if they can't look it up by the last 8 digits of the vin, they shut down.
Thanks in advance,
Tim

Still try a good auto parts store.. Tell them what you have. My NAPA here has good guys that will go through all the books and look year by year. Found an Audi dash light and Dodge Ram steering hose that way..

Do you have an aftermarket A/C unit? Mine is an Evans/Tempcon. The 4 connection sensor/switch had rotted off two of the connections. The price started off at $120 and finally found it locally for $40. Do you have a picture of the switch?

Just about off of those switches are generic, regardless of manufacturer, and can be found at local parts stores with the right guy looking. I'd recommend NAPA for A/C stuff, they seem to be about the best when it comes to tracking down specific odd parts. The other guys seem to come up short if it's not listed in their computer database.
If you go to NAPA, have them pull their TEMP book and you can narrow it down simply by looking at the illustrations.
Good luck!

I believe from my research, that it is a Ranco. I see switches that look exactly like it listed for Jags, and Landrovers. Did a little more research and found that lot's of older American vehicles had switches and vacuum systems by this manufacturer. Still on the trail. Thanks for the help.
Trying to load images, but not having luck, I'll keep trying.
Thanks in advance,
Tim

This place here in Phoenix should be able to get you the part. Probably in stock also.
Most of the fleets in town use them as they know their stuff. A fax of a picture would help them.

Another place to look at images is the CSC/Fridgett site

ALRIGHT!!!,!
Well, this forum just paid dividends. The info and help I received on here lead me to the folks that now manufacture the switches. SCS/Frigicool went out of business, but Victory Climate Systems in Ft. Worth bought their stock and patents in bankruptcy. They were able to sell me a new switch with an adaptor plug. I can't say thanks enough! BIG thanks to Wizard for the winning answer.
Thanks to all,
Tim

Put mine in the shop this morning but its more than the pressure switch. I'm suspecting Compressor or maybe just clutch.
