Any guesses as to why my gal would do this (re:oil)?
I bought her in Feb of last year, got her oil and fluids refurbed along with a nice tune up and numerous other things and then brought her back home and parked her to begin the other needs, concerns and desired changes along with simply learning about her many moods shall we say.
1) When I start her in the cold to make sure the engine battery (also replaced at time of above items), there is this rather disconcerting noise coming from the steering column area (if I can get the video to post).
2) This last time I started her and let her run as well as drove around the block and changed her position in the driveway, later that day or the next as I was leaving for work, I noticed a dark patch in the cement gravel area below the radiator area or just slightly behind. I finally got the nerve to touch it and it is fresh oil.........WHY??!! Just as I think my feet are getting warm enough to move fully in and relocate and so on. What could have caused her to leak this time out of all the other times I ran her for 20 or more minutes?
No, I haven't gotten to actually lie under there yet with her running to see if that provokes more leaking, etc. but intend to tomorrow with our heatwave of nearly 63 degrees and the ability, I hope, to piece my steps wires back together to see if they work or not and see if I can find anything resembling an unplugged speedometer cable.

Well my friend we can always hope that the drain bolt is loose?? or a valve cover gasket has developed a leak and oil is running down the side of the block and dripping off. I hope for you that it is something simple. Let us know what you find out. You can fix it :-)

You might have left oil on a crossmember or something. Parking on a different angle and it ran down. Hoping for ya.

If it has a clutch type fan on the engine, could just be the noise resonating.......noise ever go away?

Sounded like a dry heater fan bushing to me.
As far as the oil drip, check the filter area. It may be just the seal not seated properly.
Happy Glamping.

Sounds like power steering. Should change tone when steering wheel is turned. Leak is most likely power steering fluid.

Have heard this many times. It is a Chevy with air in the power steering pump. Check the power steering pump oil level. If it is low, check for leaks and refill. After filling, Turn the steering all the way left and right several times to rid the system of air.

It only started doing the noise when it got colder outside and yes, it does stop after a minute or so.

Is power steering fluid colored like new clean oil?
Heading out now to look around.....
It is coolant dripping from a hose just above the oil filter. A lot less this time but cannot tell why.
And the sound didn't last near as long this time with it being almost 55 out at the moment.

Since I had the oil change, tune up, etc done LAST March and assuming the oil change may have included a radiator flush and refill, I have a sinking feeling the shop DID NOT put antifreeze in it due to the time of year approaching and used only coolant and then my running it every week for the past couple of months possibly allowed it to freeze in a line somewhere cracking something and giving me a leak. God, if it is within the engine block, I will literally **** on that guys head!!!! He knew I wasn't going to be going anywhere for awhile.
Or would it be my fault for not finding out prior to winter???
Got another round of high 50's and 60's coming by weeks end so I will pull out my coolant tester and see whats up. Add some of that silver stuff and see if that makes it stop maybe?

First check the radiator hose clamps(tighten), Check the petcock's (sp) (Tighten) if they drained the radiator fluid. Check radiator cap. They might of added to much antifreeze and it overflowed out the overflow tube. Check area around water pump for antifreeze.
I would invest in a antifreeze tester under 10 bucks, easily used. Good luck.

Coolant will be orange, green or yellow. Power steering fluid is clear but oily feeling. My guess is leaking steering pump...

I have a tester and it's green because I laid a leftover piece of diamond trak metal under the area to catch any more drips to find out.
