Any tips finding Fuel Cap replacement?

Well, after 40 gas stops in my road trip, I had finally left the fuel cap in a gas station.

I called Ford and the parts guy said he could no help. Autozone has no replacement. NAPA has a fuel cap that may work [ Store Locator | NAPA Online ]

but it doesnt have the key option (the fuel cap is exposed).

Any ideas how to locate a replacement cap? At this point I don't even care too much about finding a nice Ford original replacement with a key... just about any keyed cap would do it... plastic or metal.

It is for a Coachmen on a 1988 Ford E350 Econoline. The fuel line is not threaded but the pin-type.

Thanks in advance,

BB

Fuel Cap

I would try salvage yards or some of the online stores that carry old car and truck parts.

a junk yard is your best bet, a ford econoline van or even ford trucks for that year should be the same.

Try Advance auto parts or Pep Boys auto parts. Those snap in Ford caps are pretty common items. Surprised that Autozone doesn't carry them

Have not yet. I was able to find regular fuel caps, but not locking caps.

Fletch,

Do you remember which model number you had ordered? And what is PU again?

Thanks,

BB

Thanks for all the replies, guys.

Today I ironically went to the PepBoys near my mom's house (which I assumed before it would not have the part) and there you go, they had the exact part number and in stock! And for like $15 bucks only! (i was about to purchase a few models on Ebay and try them out).

So i am glad I finally got the replacement and in the future if anyone goes thru this, here is the actual part number:

STANT Part#11593
Locking Fuel Cap

FWIW there was (is?) a place in North Carolina called Layles & Lowmans??? not sure of spelling but they were in Valdese NC and at one time they bought every wrecked Ford truck they could find. Not sure if they are still in business or not and not sure of spelling.
