Automatic step

Hi. Just got a 88 LaSalle and it had an auto step at one time. I sure woyld like to get that working again. Every thing is there i think except the motor. PO said it was a $100 fix. Anyone know where I could find a motor or how I would fix this ? The coat hanger holding it up now is really ugly.

Some of the auto steps today use Ford auto window motors, try a comparison.

My 02

There are two major components of the std Kwikee electric step - the controller unit and the motor unit. The motor unit cost about $120 - the control unit is more expensive ($200+?) - if you need both then given the age of the rig you might consider buying an entire step assembly.

And just so you know... Most of the rest of 'em use a GM motor.
