In the past thirty plus years that I've been having waste oil picked up I've never once heard them mention checking for gas when they did their pre pick up check of the material. Now I've heard mentioned many times paint and water based fluids were prohibited.

Somewhere in the back of my head I remember them telling me that gas and heavier gear oil burns hotter in waste oil heaters. When we had waste oil picked up it was generally at the 250 gallon mark and picked up by a state licensed carrier so they had a lot of guidelines to follow.

This oil was picked up not so much for waste oil heaters (which was their biggest competition) but for re refining the oil products themselves.
