Been looking for history info

Hello, I am the new owner of an 1988 Honey Sportscruiser. Of course, there are no manuals, and I've never RV'd before.
DH is having it checked out at the Ford Dealer. So far the exhaust manifold is needing replaced and there was some other problem with it smelling like antifreeze when we drove it.
I have been looking for info on perhaps who bought the company when and where old info on the motor Homes might be found. I am pretty sure Manuals won't be found, and we have been advised to get general books on servicing the things on the Motor Home ourselves.
Anyone know anything about the history of the company and anything we might need to watch out for? Been reading a lot and know there is much to learn.

Have you tried looking for manuals on eBay? There are hundreds of rv manuals from the 1970s-1980s listed on there. I've been looking for one for my '75 Dodge MH, and have been seeing tons of old manuals. The listings change dailiy so you have to keep looking every day or so until you find the one you need.

If it is a Class C and not a Class A, than find out what type of van it was built out of, than buy a Haynes or Chilton Repair Manual for it.

You said 88 Ford right? So you'd want either of these manuals:

Ford Vans'69'91 (Haynes Repair Manuals)

Ford Vans 1961-88 (Chilton's Repair & Tune-Up Guides)

But these while only work for you if you have a Class C (or B) and not a Class A

For example my motorhome is a 1975 Dodge Sportsman F40 (see avatar for pic) Class C which means this is the repair manual that I have to use to fix her with, because she started out in life as a van in the Dodge factory:

Dodge & Plymouth Vans 1971-2003 (Haynes Manuals)

So if your's is a Class C or Class B Ford, than she started out in life as a van in a Ford factory.

Hope that helps

Howdy and welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy the site and all your future travels. Congrats on the purchase and hope all works out well. As far as manuals, the inner workings of an rv a pretty much the same, one to another. Being yours is a bit older, copy down any and all info you can get like model numbers off of the a/c, refrig, water tank etc. and google it for some info. You may just get lucky and find something on the web and then download it. Hope you find all the info you need. Be safe and Happy Motoring!!!

Elkat,
It is a type c on a ford econoline. Thank you all for the suggestions...How much do I need to worry about weight with it? It'll only be hauling Hubby and I and our border collie for the most part and occasionally towing a trailer with Hubby's powered parachute.
I've been reading other old threads with interest and it seems our vintage MH's were not made with the same standards newer ones are... somewhere I read that the B's and C's were all mostly (or closely) overweight by the time they left the factory.
I always travel light, and realize tires are the thing to watch out about.

If you take pictures of your appliances, electrical circuit box, a/c, and anything else that you have no manual or info off a sticker and post them when they need attention or you need info on how they operate that you can post the picture.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Honey first began building mini motorhomes in 1968. They were built in Bristol Indiana through the 60's 70's and 80's by Parkwood homes

If you are smelling coolant burning while driving (inside vehicle) have them check the heater core. a small leak from there can cause a strong coolant smell through the dash vents.
