Trying to change out my power converter on 1987 Winnebago Chieftan. I found it under the fridge and it's a rusted burnt out mess. Without it no power to pumps or generator. any idea what I'm lookin at costwise & where to shop for replacement? Thanks----JD

What size is your battery bank?

Look at bestconverters.com for good price and service. They can give you advice on what would be the easiest swap-out for your rig.

Recommend you go for a converter with a smart charger to maximize the life of your expensive battery bank.

Note about Best Converter.. Tell him what you have and what shape it's in, He may have a drop in replacement that is vastly superior to your old one.

NOTE on placement.. Consider waterprofing the site.

First thing is to determine what you have. Winnebago used Progressive Dynamics for many years for both the Power Center and Converter. I list most of the information here Daves Place - RV Electrical Systems. Once you know what you have, then you can determine what your replacement needs are. I recently replaced my power panel with a newer version from a wrecked trailer and the converter with a PD9260. You have to clearly understand what your going from / to when doing this.
