Cruise Control

I have never known the cruise control to work on my MH, I sure would like it as I go down the highway, where would you start to try and troubleshoot, besides a fuse?

Not to be funny, but on my 1990 P-30 the only way to get the cruise control to work was to turn it on, then left turn signal, then press the set button. I tried to figure out why it would only work with the left turn signal before setting it but never could, no frayed wires, good grounds, nothing. I gave up and just signaled left before setting the cruise.

My cruise control, cc, quit too. Took a few months of trouble shooting but finally narrowed it down to the signal generator attached to the transmission. Was able to find an identical one on eBay that was over 20 years old but never used (new old stock). It now works great, over the the past couple years. You may also want to try King Cruise, they are great people to work with and can fix you up with a new one at a reasonable price.

Still trying to dx mine. There are no instrument cluster lights that I know of to show if it engages. It has vacuum at the control actuator. I plan to look up at the brake light switch tomorrow, just got my batteries for my scope. Just can't position myself to see up there.
I am beginning to think there must be something at the transmission not working. The speedometer has a cable to the transmission, nothing at the transmission stood out as being a sensor apparatus.
Regarding fuses, I don't find one that states cruise control, all of them I did check were good.

On the older units like we all have, I believe it different strokes for different folks. I believe the manufacturer's used what they could get a hold of. The manufacturer of mine went out of business about a year after mine was made. I had the problem of surging when engaged. I do have a troubleshooting manual for the unit but it was about useless. What I eventually found out was there is a rheostat in front of the vacuum actuator under the rubber cover. It had a dead spot in it. So I sprayed it out with contact cleaner and away we went. It worked fine for a couple of years and went back to it's old games. I just haven't had the time to work on it.
