My 88 Pace has original cruise control that is not currently working. Not sure where to start. Any ideas as to where to troubleshoot and where I could get parts?

If your cruise control is on the turn signal arm there may be a control box under the dash with a brand name on it , you'll have to follow the wiring.
If you can't find anything there , maybe post a picture of the switch and more info about your RV , engine , maybe we can identify the brand and find some wiring , testing help for you.

Are your brake lights working OK?

Is there a vacuum motor controlling the throttle, or is it electronic?

Is the control part of the arm or is it an add on? Also is there a control box mounted under the steering column? I had problems with mine a few years ago. I finally traced the problem to the rheostat that is located in the end of the servo.

Yes...check the brake lights. There is some sort of sensor on our freightliner that prevented the cruise control and the brake lights from working. New sensor, all is well.

Check all fuses and they are OK but do not know where is cruise is connected to fuse box just yet.b Checking the brake lights right now.

It's a 454 Chassis with a no-name cruise control. Brake lights work fine.

Can I test it without driving it? i.e. use volt meter to verify power to switch etc.

From what you can see from my pics, is this an electronic cruise control?
Would it have a vacuum pod somewhere?
What about the transmission? Is there any parts attached to drive shaft or transmission?

In the picture of your carb linkage, thinking that outermost cable is going to lead to your cruise servo. When you find that, see if there's a vacuum line leading to it, or if it's all wires. If there's a vacuum line, make sure it's got vacuum with the engine running?

I think there are a couple of magnets tie wrapped to the driveshaft with a sensor mounted nearby on the earlier versions of the cruise. Later is all electronic. Look for the sensor hanging next to the driveshaft somewhere near the rear of the transmission. If you see that, there should be magnets on the driveshaft. Id no sensor, don't worry about it.

These were mickey mouse cruise controls when they were new. They worked, but they were a hassle. We had a lot of trouble with them. If this one is too much trouble, I'd be tempted to try and track something down that would replace it....

That looks like the same module that I have. Are the lights that are on it working at all? Also there are 2 cables coming off of the carb one goes to the cruise control the other goes to the gas peddle. If you look in the most remote area that's where there vacuum modulator is. Also the company that built mine went out of business in 1991. But don't give up yet I'm betting you have the same problem I had.
Edit: I went and looked at mine, it may be a little different but I have all of the original paper work on mine. ARA made mine. PM me

If I cannot get this one fixed does anyone have any suggestions for a CC on my GM 454 carb engine?

My cruise must be all electronic as there is no vac pod. It's a cable from a box to the throttle. Took it for test ride and it works now. Maybe wiggled the right wire. Little touchy but it works!

Now generator will not start ... next job!
