Decal vinyl stripe removal
Need to paint over old paint on MH and need to remove decal/stripe that runs all around rig. It is 8" combination of paint strips and cracking vinyl strip. Especially need to remove cracking vinyl strip. Have tried heat gun, WD40, Goo Gone, 3M 08984 adhesive remover, lacquer thinner, Rustoleum Decal Remover. Nothing has worked so far. I did get about a 6" long strip of cracked strip off with the 3M and scraoer, after more than an hour of effort, still has some adhesive on it. This stuff is very hard, and will not peel off for nothing. Any help out there?

No, I have not tried the wheel yet. Your link shows one wheel for $33, Would one wheel do entire MH? Have to admit I am skeptical that a wheel would take this stuff off. It is very cracked and very hard.

One is to use expensive, commercial paint stripper that goes on with a brush and has consistency of snot. You scrape off with putty knife when time comes.
Next is using steel wire brushes in a drill, but is harsh also to the metal.
Then there is heavy grit(60/80/100)wet/dry automotive sandpaper in a DA where you can hit the edges and center areas and work your way down to finer(150/220) sandpaper to blend in to the metal for smooth finish before spraying on a primer.
Choices, and not anyone of them are easy.

Still have not ordered any wheels or more stripper stuff. I am getting much of the actual vinyl decal off with a razor blade. But the adhesive is very tenacious. On a beer break, then back to it.

Get some MEK from a paint store.
It is solvent for pvc and msny plastics so it will almost melt the decals.
Will not bother good paint or fiberglass.
Do not get it on plastic.
It will weld it instantly.

The eraser wheel takes the vinyl and the adhesive off in nearly one pass. I was able to take off the entire logo & stripes in one day. These show an old vinyl letter that had shrunk and exposed the dried adhesive, then the overall view of the entire task and the completed view.

Tried acetone and MEK today with little success, on the adhesive. I need some process where I can keep the product on the adhesive for a period to loosen the bond maybe? How do you keep the adhesive and MEK or acetone against the adhesive?

I wish I could tell you there's a quick easy way, but I've not found one yet, either. Haven't tried that special stuff for removing vinyl, but I think that would be what I would try next. I used a paint remover which wrinkled the vinyl and loosened it right up, and made it so I could scrape it off easily...only problem is it also ate into the outer layer of gelcoat on the filon sheeting causing it to be textured where the stripes used to be. I then had to use a high-solids primer/filler to smooth the surface and fill the pock marks before I could paint the rig. It turned out good in the end, but cost extra for the filler, and took a little longer than planned. Good luck with your project, and please show pictures so we can see what you do with it. I didn't have our flying pig hood ornament on yet in the "after" picture, but it definitely goes back on this spring
