I have a 1988 Southwind on a P30 chassis that has a worn driver's side idler arm. The GM part# is 14013037 and in the original GM chassis manual it's called a steering relay connecting rod. Any ideas where one can be had??
Thanks for any info,
Al.

If GM has discontinued the part, perhaps you can get an after market version from a parts store. You may have to find a parts store that specializes in truck parts though. . .

Try JC Whitney.
They have lots of aftermarket stuff. They even have parts for our old Class C. You may even be able to it at Advance Auto. Make sure you tell them the chassis, not "it's a 1988 Southwind RV". If no liuck thru the stores, then you will need to go to an outfit like OMEC Auto Salvage.

Thanks for the reply...can you give me an address or phone# for Super Steer?, also can you supply more details on the "honing" that you mention regarding the bushings for the bellcranks?

thank you very much for any info you can pass on to me regarding this problem.

Al.

I'm just now having some luck in finding this part. Got a reply from a member of the forum pointing me towards "Super Steer".....just waiting for a bit more detailed info so I can figure out how to proceed. Also...one more issue....headlights for this unit are rare too!...finally found replacements for the original Bosch units....from our local Freightliner dealer....the units are from Hella, they measure 10.5 inches wide by 6.5 inches high. These replacements include the entire mounting/support hardware and should be ready to install directly to the original 4 stud mounting setup. Cost is pricey.....$125.00 Canadian, but higher cost is better that not being able to replace them.

Moog a division of Federal Mougul Parts Company manufactures all of the replacement parts needed for these older chassis. NAPA carries Moog products and will get the part, usually overnight, that you need.

Would you please be able to supply a part # for this part from Moog? Any NAPA store that I've been into here in Canada have nothing at all.
Thanks,

Al.

Called my local NAPA guy and he wanted to make sure that you were asking for Chevrolet truck parts at your NAPA store, leave the Southwind part of the vehicle description off. The parts for the P30 chassis, 1988 are listed in the NAPA computer parts list and are avaialable at most local stores on an overnight delivery. If I were to order the parts here in New Hampshire he says that they are available out of the Boston Warehouse. I am DW's store using her computer right now and I do have the part numbers but they are at home. Will drop another E mail in the morning with the part numbers for the items.

Thanks for doing this search for me Brad, I appreciate it very much. We have done the search up here for the P30 chassis and come up with a blank every time. The only info we've found so far are the parts from Super Steer, (excellent parts, and superior to the original), but quite pricey.

Call Mike Bronzini at Brazels RV 1-877-786-1576. I think he has them for $275 and tell them Dale said to call.
