I need to replace the insulation in my engine cover,does any one have any ideas of what to use?

We added a layer of Reflectix under our doghouse- it cut down surprisingly on the heat and noise.

I flipped mine upside down and applied a liberal coat of expanding spray foam. Much cooler and quiter in the mh.

This is what I used on our previous class C. It worked great and is rated fro the under hood temperatures.

+1 on the JC Whitney insulation kit - lots of reflective sound/heat deadener, plenty of spray adhesive, and a big ol' roll of tape. Perfect for the doghouse cover, and I'm thinkin' of trying it on the kids...

I decided to insulate the inside of his doghouse and being I still had a half of a roll from an earlier project, I decided it would be a good project to do today. Who wouldn't want to have it cooler and quieter right?

Now that I just finished the installation of the bubble reflective wrap , it made me wonder if the heat of the Chevy 454 engine would melt the plastic that is between the reflective foil?

I would hate to have it melt not only because of the oder, but the damage it could case to the engine and electrical components, I hope I now done have to rip it all out again.

I bought some of the reflective buble wrap type insulation from Home Depot and the info with it said it was good to 180'. I used it by the radiator and the panels alongside the radiator.

There is a product that will stand more heat. Think it is the same stuff JC Whitney sells.

DAP Products - Construction Adhesives - DAP® Weldwood® Original Contact Cement

Camping world used to have a kit but it shows it is no longer available online. The above link is the glue I used because you can paint it on and get it places without a huge mess. I did many projects with that glue. It will hold fine.

Have to look into that JC whitney kit as our dog house doesnt have any at all, had a look on their site and the mylar foil/foam soundproofing heat & cool insulation looks good for lining the drivers & passengers footwells and other areas.

We used the J.C. Whitney insulation on our class C and it worked great. I also lined the generator compartment with it.

Just a question regarding the reflectix , would it be as good in regards to keeping cold out? As well it does heat reflection. Otherwise the jcwhitney kit will get the purchase.

Picked up some reflectix though for the doghouse,what adhesive would be the best to stick the relfectix to the fiberglass doghouse? Already have the foil tape.

Reflctix has a very low R value and is most effective on radiated heat. it will help to reflect some of the heat back into the conditioned space in the winter.
