Driver's side power window

I keep moving through the list(Unfortunately it keeps getting longer)
Next up the driver's door power window is slow to go down and needs to be helped to raise. I thought maybe the mechanism needed to be lubed, maybe just crap needed to be cleaned out, maybe electric motor is failing.

WRONG on all the above The "U" shaped channel that connects the glass to the window regulator is partially rusted out allowing the glass to cock in the door causing a wedge effect. Anybody know where I can buy a new "U" channel??? Thor West Industries is LONG GONE

No "U" channel at any auto parts store; at least none that I could find
Plan "B" went to Lowes and found 1/4 inch extruded aluminum. Only need a 10 inch piece. Removed the Old, Rusted Channel from the solid mounting Bracket. Pop riveted the new channel to the old bracket. Added 3M red double sided tape to both insides of the U. Ready to bolt back on.

I have decided to remove the glass from the door to install new piece.
Does anybody have any experience replacing lowering door glass?
