Does anyone know how to adjust an electric choke? After I had my Quadrajet overhauled, I had an electric choke placed in place of the hot air choke. However, I don't know if it is working properly or not. The choke is wide open when I start the engine. I thought when you press the accelerator down before turning the key the choke was supposed to close. It doesn't. Or am I wrong about that? I have a carburetor manual but it only discusses the hot air choke, nothing about an electric. Just how does an electric choke work, anyway. I have it wired properly. Thanks,

"For a baseline, I rotate the black cap until the choke closes, then rotate it the other way until it just opens. I lock it down there. This is assuming 70 degrees or so. 3.5 turns will probably get you close on the APT."

Set it so that at a temp of about 65-70 the choke is just barely closed. Evaluate for operation and adjust as needed afterword.

where did you get 12 volts from on my 1985 southwind i used a spot on the right side of the fuse box (only 1 pole not for a fuse) it was marked windshield wipers. the wire has no power till key is on

You need to use the choke setup procedures for a 4ME or M4ME version of the carb. They should be in this manual http://www.oldcarmanualproject.com/m...20complete.pdf
While it says 1973, it contains information up through 1986.

Thanks for all the information. I think I now have it set like it should be. It seems to work okay. I don't normally drive it when it's cold, anyway, but since I have it, it needed to work correctly. I removed all the propane part of the dual fuel option. Part of that kit is a gasoline lock out valve that only opens when 12v power is applied. I took that valve out and used the wire to power the choke. Seems to work okay. I sure took out a pile of parts, hoses, and valves when I removed the propane regulator. It sure opens up the right side of the motor. Thanks again for the help.
