electrical outlets

can i use regular house outlets or do i need a special kind. i took one out of my 85 cause its really hard to plug and unplug things. it dont look like a normal outlet thats why im asking, dont want to burn the thing down.
if i need special outlets where would i find them? i have looked all over.

110 outlets are the same in a house or rv. If you see any difference it normally has to do with some having a different size ground spade. You will also probably find a couple of GFI plugs but they are easy to recognize as they have the reset button on them.

The receptacles in my RV are not like "normal" home receptacles. The ones in the RV have no screws for attaching the wire but use a Vee shaped groove that the wires are pushed into. When I added a receptacle I used a household one with the screws. It must be a cost issue?

mine are just like yours with the Vee shaped groove.
ill go to the hardware store tomorrow and replace the 2 in the back bedroom.

The only differences are these

House outlets are designed to be installed using a box.. RV outlets usually are not

The "Depth" of the box may be "Shallow" (There is a special shalow box it's only about half as deep as the standard one, and you need a special shallow outlet to use it)

Home depot, Lowes, Minnards.. Joe's hardware,, All should have what you need.

I personally also use the self-grounding outlets vs the cheaper non-self grounding units.
