I have a 1987 travelmaster class c. Going to repair roof with eternabond. My leaks are where the metal roof and body come together. At these seams they have the track with screws in them, not sure what to call those. Sorry. My question is when I go to repair these seams do I take all the screws and track up? Put the tape down then replace these tracks and screws on top of the tape, or do you leave the tracks down and tape over them. New to repair so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Don

I'm not sure if it's right or not, but when I did mine, I left everything in place, cleaned REALLY well, and layed teh 6" eternabond tape over the rails. I made sure to overlap the ends to kep everything sealed. So far, it seems to be working, but I think it'll be a nightmare to get off if I need to do a repair.

Repairs I have seen shows the tape being applied over the tracks and screws. You could probably do a search on eternabond and find some previous articles with pictures.

If it were mine, I would seal it the way you described. I'm going to state what has already been recommended: make sure you clean the surface really really good! Otherwise you will be wasting money on eternabond and labor. I learned that the hard way, even after I was told to clean the surface good.

If there is pieces of other sealant where the eternabond will cover, take the time and get it off no matter how much labor is involved. Then wipe the surface with acetone to clean it before applying eternabond. When eternabond has a nice clean(acetone wiped) surface it bonds really well!

just my $.02, I would remove the track first, then clean the area apply eternabond tape and re-install the molding. The reason I say this is because I am in the process of replacing my roof and this stuff is nearly impossible to remove once it cures to the surface. The molding is easy enough to remove and the srew holes will be sealed back up with the tape. It also makes a cleaner looking repair.

TXCO, I'm not sure that way will keep water from getting in. But they do make a double sided eternabond that would be good to place between the rail and the camper roof. Let us know if it works for you. If it were me, I would get just of the eternabond over the edge of the rail to force water into the rail drain.
Thats just my thoughts. I could be wrong.

you can remove the screws and track..put a 2" strip of eternabond. Then if you cant get a replacement metal seam... just reinstall with new screws in different locations and seal with a 6" piece of eternabond. The first piece will seal the old screw holes and any new penetrations will be sealed with the 2nd layer of tape.

Remove the trim
install the eternabond (after cleaning properly)
Re-install the trim with butyl tape under it to seal the screw holes
have a beer.

It will look much better.
