well I tied in to the original pipes behind the h-pipe until we get back week after next, then I will finish up this chapter, I hope. Just got back from a ride down the highway, it is a big improvement, seems to get to 75 with ease not that I cruise at that speed, just wanted to see if it would climb there with less effort. Would like to work on a better air cleaner setup too.

Deano,
Once you get the air in and the air out, which you are well on your way, then you need to increase the spark to burn the more fuel in the amount of air going in and out of each cylinder. Not only will the unit run better, but the fuel mileage will significantly increase.

anything wrong with using the silver dryer vent hose for my snorkel? I did already but a little ride doesn't tell me if it will collapse

hooked up the car dolly and the car on it and, went for a ride, pulled it down the road pretty good I think, even pulled good up some overpasses over Rt. 80. I'm pleased

Deano,
If it is the metal hose, I don't think it will collapse.

Deano, you can buy the fresh air intake hose from Summit Racing! Any size you need? I also think that Advance Auto, NAPA, or any good parts store will have what you need, and do not have to worry about it! That is something you do not want to fail, and before you discover it you have dusted your motor! Ask Piker!
I am thinking about the style that has the filter on a snorkel, and then the hose that goes to the carb/injection, and if you are talking about the style that just brings the fresh air to the aircleaner on the motor, disregard what i said!

Deano,
I was thinking of the flexible aluminum hose. The other hose I think has spiraled reinforcing wire in it which will keep it from collapsing, but I am not sure how well it will hold up.

yep, it does have the wire in it, we'll see if it lasts a while. Good air intake hose will cost about 60.00 shipped for 6 feet, just running out of time. This should last for our 350 mile round trip to Thompson Causeway I hope

Deano, I have been using the bendable aluminium dryer hose on mine. It is the same style as the old gooseneck spouts on the old gas cans. I ran it so it is sticking out of the rubber dam and then put some 1/4" mesh in front of it to keep the mice/chipmunks/squirrels out.

That's the one I didn't get because I was concerned about ovaling it around the neck on the air cleaner. I will scrap the cheap stuff. The original one must have went the same place you did your because the piece to connect up the hose was still on top of the radiator frame. I moved that down to the wheel well facing forward

O'reilly's had a 6' piece for only 10.00 dollars, says its for heater duct or air cleaner intake and can be used under the hood compartment
