Finally got the generator running

I recently bought a 1989 Sun Clipper (Gulf Stream). For the past 5 years it was being used as a camper (stationary) at a local river RV park. One of the issues with my new purchase was the generator (Onan 4KW). It would crank, run a minute or two and shut down. I read everything I could find on this site and a few others. Long story short, I contacted Flight Systems. I will say, they are a very friendly and helpful group.

Not having the tools or knowledge to trouble shot the system, and running out of time, I ordered their control panel (125.00). Installed it, same problem. So next I ordered the Voltage Regulator (200.00) again from Flight Systems. Bingo, generator is running fine.

Another thing I liked about Flight System, I was told I could return the control panel for a refund (less a 25.00 return fee). This is the only place I have ever seen that will allow a return on electrical parts.

Now, if I can just talk myself into replacing the air bags

Terry- replacing air bags isn't beyond DIY scope. Not sure of the type on your rig, but if its the internal bag-inside-a-coil-spring P-30 chassis type, I replaced mine on a Safari Trek (P-30). Old ones came out using oversized water-pump pliers gripping on old bag, wee bit of water as lubricant from spray bottle, and maybe 30 minutes of elbow grease. The pliers have a curved head which was perfect for leverage against the bottom of spring housing. New Air-Lift replacements went in w/less grunting (more pliable), and came w/remote air nipple setup you could use as Lt/Rt if you needed differential air per side, or you could tie them together for a single common Shraeder valve & equal pressure both sides.
