Foretravel GrandVilla- 1991?

Anyone have experience with this brand or particular coacH?

Found a 1991 model U300 with 146000 miles on it for around $12k. Looks to be solidly built - maybe a little better fit/ finish than most of that era.

Thanks for any advice.

It was on my list of wanted motorhomes.

1990-1992 Monaco Crown Royale
1990-1994 Foretravel Unihome
1990-1993 Beaver Contessa

Those were the ones I was most in favor of purchasing. Very well built. Very reliable, solid coaches. $12k sounds like a pretty good deal.

Castrol got it all right...excellent manufacturer still turning out absolute top tier motorhomes. Excellent vintage in 91 and price sounds quite reasonable. You can always contact the factory in Nacogdoches TX and see if they have any helpful information on that very coach as well.

Cool. Good info. Never thought to call the factory.

146,000 miles on one of these probably still has a lot of engine life left??

It has a Detroit Diesel - 8.2 , Allison transmission, Oshcosh chassis.

Thanks for the Foreforums tip. Found a thread on there that implies this model with the Detroit Diesel is underpowered and creeps up hills. Do you have that experience?
Wondering if that guy had a specific engine issue or if it was a design flaw on the weight - hP ratio for the model?

How has your coach been to own? Live in?

If it has an 8.2 it isn't a U300 The U 300 is the top if the line model for that year. It came standard with a 6V92 TA Detroit at 300HP with an Allison 4 speed Auto Trans with retarder. The spec sheet I posted shows what came standard.I love mine rides and drives great. Built to last hardwood cabinets Corian counters etc. There is nothing made today that is built anything of the quality of a older foretravel in or near the price range. Do you have the link to the ad or can you get the VIN number everything can be cleared up what it actually is. I think you are looking at a ORED model with the Oshkosh chassis snd torsolastic suspension. The U300 is a 8 bag air ride suspension

I got to "tour" a 1993 at an RV park that was next to us. It was really beautiful.

Here's the Ad

http://m.rvtrader.com/dealers/TravelCamp-3001110/listing/1991-Fourtraveler-Grandvilla-114656215

Sales person sent the email with the engine / chassis info. As you can tell in the ad - they can't even spell ForeTravel correctly - was a pain trying to find the NADA pricing with wrong info...

Yes this one would make a much better purchase.
The one above looks like a ORED model I wouldn't want the 8.2 detroit.
Here is a picture of my 91 Grand Villa Unihome, I picked it up on Craigslist for 9000.00

Thanks for the help - and knowledge! The fact that it is NOT a U300 explains the price - too good to be true. NADA is about 9-10k on this one.

I saw the one in Mass. Online first - then the one in FL caught my attention like a dog who sees a squirrel. :-)

Glad I didn't get on a plane and go see it before I found that out :-)
