freezer yes///fridge maybe

My fridge sometimes works sometimes doesn't. Freezers works every time. Domestic brand from probly 1988. It worked when parked 2 weeks ago now not cold. I didn't leave it on we are leaving tomorrow. And put it on to get it cold. There appears tobe a thermistor(?) On the fins in the fridge. Is there a way to test that? I don't know what that is for since I have a slider for a temp control. Well I guess that would be related. Oy. I had a new apartment fridge ordered but cancelled it when this started working. I hate to spend time and money if I can make it work but need it to be 100% I hope someone can tell me a cheap fix cause were going for a week July 4 and I cannot work out of coolers then. BTW I only need electric. Don't care about running on Lp. Although with this fridge it makes no difference in operation. Oh yea. I AM LEVEL. PS. If it is dying due to old age would it not quit and be done not work sometimes and sometimes not??? Thanks.

I cant help you with the frig problem but if you cant get it to work you can use Dry Ice in the frig to keep things cold and not have a water mess to clean up just an option. good luck

Look at the cooling fins in the back (outside) and clean off the wasp nest/mouse dens.
The probe may fail-if it does most likely you fridge will go to full on mode. If the freezer is working ok then the fridge should work to.

There is a second set of fins on the back side in the open air to take away the heat from inside. Look in the service door outside. and look up.

I have found the dry ice at some welding supply stores. Praxair now has it in small cubes for packing food or other things that need to be kept cold for shipping.
