Question Freshen rock guard

Hi Everyone,

The rock guard, over the front window of my 1985 Wilderness TT, is pretty tired.

I'm not sure what it is made of but it is full of hairline crackles. These are only cosmetic, they are not structural, but really age my rig.

Can you paint this or is there a better way to make it look nicer?

Thank you!

Sheila

On a former TT I owned, I had a sign shop cover it in adhesive vinyl sheeting with some cool personaized graphics. Mine had the same hairline cracks & was yellowing....a real eyesore.

Thank you MuckSavage, that is an interesting idea. I will look into what that would cost.

I think this is fiberglass. Has anyone tried painting their TT front window rock guard? If so, what did you use and how did you do it?

Mine is structurally sound, just looks bad.

Cool

The hairline cracks are stress cracks in the gelcoat. The best fix is to sand it down, get it real clean, tack rag it, pick a nice dry day, mix up a batch of gelcoat with whatever color additive you want and apply new gelcoat. The cracks will disappear. A good fiberglass shop could do it pretty cheaply too, I'd think.
