fridge not working in a/c mode
ok in our 1985 Georgie boy, we are getting ready for a weekend. The dometic fridge is not operating on a/c. D/c or gas seem to be fine.
It is plugged into the house outlet. it was checked and is working, everything else electrical in the RV seems to be working,
any suggestions? is their a way to "RESET" the control board?
Im going back out..Im hoping when I come back you guys have some good ideas.

Do you have a AUTO position on your switch?
If you do fridge will select which ever mode, LP gas or AC, is supplied to fridge.
Only use DC mode when you are traveling or you will drain your batteries, fridge needs 12V DC for control board to operate.

it does have auto. when I hit that it goes to GAS. can't get it to select the AC option.
One other thought I had. We used the generator for the 1st time yesterday. could that have anything to do with this?

If you use Gen transfer switch may have not returned back to the shore line power if it is now not going, Gen that is.
With Gen off the shore line should be suppling you AC into your load center if not you have no AC to electric element for fridge.
Your lights are working off your batteries.
Try and plug a AC light in outlet and see if it lights or use a meter to read a outlet for AC.
Your AC plug for fridge is plugged into its outlet correct?

i disconnected the batteries. lights, microwave etc are working on house cord, nothing at the fridge.
I reconnect the batteries then the fridge will light up auto and select gas.
I checked plug in the door outside. I tried plugging a fan into that outlet. Nothing,
I tried plugging the refrigerator into a extension cord. still not running on a/c

The outlet you used for fan is for fridge, right?
OK you may have a GFI outlet that needs to be reset, maybe in kitchen or bathroom.
No need to disconnect anything as batteries and such not my concern right now.
Leave in AUTO mode.
Maybe this fridge PDF.

This is your PDF.
iF ITS NOT A GFI CHECK YOU LOAD CENTER CIRCUIT BREAKERS.
Look at PDF 18c section AC operation and on your control board there is a 5 amp fuse suppling the AC element which maybe blown.

ok i think we are making headway. I found a tripped gfi in the bathroom. I reset it. fridge is still auto to GAS.
I checked the plug outside and it now is live.
Do I need to do something to reset the fridge to go to a/c. I tried the selectors and all I can get to light are dc or GAS

Should be in AUTO mode.
In your PDF instructions for AC operation is on page 37=38, you have to position some dials on front control strip for AC operation while in AUTO mode.
ALSO shows how to check AC element if bad.
Fuse is on control board rear of fridge maybe OK PLUS fridge is going to take a while to cool down once fixed.
You can measure voltage into element off connections back of control board with meter do not cross you will blow fuse.

ok wise one. It is now working...buy WHY. I checked the fuses outside all looked good.. I didnt have a tester but I had a piece of wire so
I jumpered the 1st fuse. then checked the fridge...NO A/c
jumpered the 2nd fuse went to A/c
removed the jumper fridge stayed on AC... SO WHAT THE HECK?
I am happy it is working and it was kind of fun, but I would like to know what the problem was.
I would think the 2nd fuse but now it is not jumpered and it is working on a/C????
