Fuel Pump recommendations for 84 Tioga Ford E350

See attached photos

Need help with identifying a replacement fuel pump -- external mounted under RV on the crossmember near centerline just forward of the fuel tank - on my 84 Tioga Ford E350 7.6L 460 gas carb.

Pump dimensions: 5-1/8 inch high, 2 inch diameter, and 3-3/8 inch at widest part without brass barb fittings.

Hopefully, someone has replaced one already or knows this type of pump. I don't know the required specs for the replacement such as PSI and GPH ratings. Auto parts stores not able to help since they only deal with stock items they can find in their computers, so I am reaching out the brain trust here in these forums

Would appreciate any help with a identifying a suitable replacement. Thanks much in advance.

This would work for that application.
Just need to make sure not to buy one with to much pressure for the carb needle and seat.

Max pressure for the carb needle and seat? I assume I can find that info if I know the make and model of the carburetor on my 460 engine...

Looks like the 12-426 model you recommended might be too low a pressure (@ 4 psi max) so I think the 12-427 model will be better suited with 4-7 psi output.

In the Haynes manual for the E350 460 engine, the fuel pressure (mechanical type) pressure is 6 to 8 psi so the 12-427 model seems a better fit.

Carb needle and seat max pressure?

That would probably be fine although 7 psi is the higher side of what it will take before flooding.
Does it not have a mechanical fuel pump on the engine ?

There should be a pump on the engine block that looks like this.

There is NOT a mechanical fuel pump -- as you pictured -- mounted on the engine block.

I traced the lines from the fuel pump and they run directly to the carburetor.

Here is what I discovered since your last posting:

1. The electric fuel pump removed is Holley made and the pump's label is stamped with a "GPH 110" on it.

2. There is NO fuel pressure regulator between the fuel pump and the carb, as is recommended by Holley.

3. There is NO fuel safety pressure shut-off switch as is recommended by Holley.

I am concerned about 2 and 3 above, but most concerned about 3 above as a matter of safety.

There is a Holley electric fuel pump available with a GPH 110 rating.

Suggestions or recommendations??

If it were mine I would put a stock mechanical pump on it.

I would put the fuel system back to stock wiring with the stock in-tank fuel pump. If you have a fuel fire the insurance Co may not pay and if it hurts someone else you may be sued for everything you got.

No you do not need one.

There should an impact fuel shut-off switch in the wires going to the fuel pump as this was factory installed. There should also be a oil pressure fuel shut-off ahead of the impact fuel shut off switch this was also factory installed.

As you know that pump is not stock. I would replace the electric pump that is inside the tank. Replacing an out side fuel pump may not work at all as the rubber hose inside the fuel tank may have disintegrated.

Normal fuel pump wiring for your RV.

i just added a 7 lb inline electric pump to a 87 Ford powered class c.for a friend . it also has no mechanical pump on the motor. there is a factory block off plate..these years of class c RVs had pumps in tank. i wasnt able to drop the tank and change it or pay the rediculous amount the local dealer wanted., just hook the 12 volt source to fuse box on ignition side. bad part is you will not have a gas gauge after this it is part of the fuel pump that failed in the tank. grrrr, I hate intank pumps. Im retired auto mechanic and hate technology.love carberators and mechanical things. no computors.
