Generator

Hi all,

I have a 1984 Class C. It has a onan generator. At some point someone decided that they wanted to paint the genset, Leaving me with no model information. It looks like the others that I have seen but with one exception, To the right of where the start switch is located there is a small panel with lights.. battery, ignition ect...

any ideas ?

I am afraid of buying the wrong oil, filer and plugs for it..
I had called the MH company ( Coachmen ) and all they could tell me is that it is a 4Kw.

I emailed onan with pictures and never heard back...

Thanks

Remove the filter and take it with you, Unless plugs were painted you should be able to read their model off the body.

Can not help you otherwise.. Question: that indicator light panel, is it possible and after-market item?

The panel is an onan panel..
Correction, lights are above the start switch..

I can't post a pic here...

I did find a pic that looks Similiar to the genset, the pic is of a commercial 6500 except mine is the typical aqua / teal color... Same start/light panel

I called onan again... I have to find the block stamping..

From what I have seen the commercial 6500 is the only one that has this panel.. But they are dark green.. I guess that would explain the newer paint job..maybe?

I'll have to do some work to get to where the numbers are...

Not sure where you are calling but I just had mine worked on at a Cummins/Onan place here in Mpls, One end of the bldg was for MH, center is parts and the other end is for semi's I was very happy with there service. I have had a few questions after they were done and they were more than happy to answer them over the phone (good Customer support) if your having trouble with your place. I'm going to try and scan my Manuel for a Picture, Looking closer at mine there is the Rocker switch and 2 Fuse holders I'm surprised that there is that much of a difference in 2 years. except
Your first post says a 4 Kw and IC you now posted that say's its a 6.5
Mine is a 6.5 NH-RV Genset

Well, that's where I'm confused..

My MH was equipped with a 4kw when built. But, I can't find any 4kw models with the panel I have.. The closest gen I could find, looks like that commercial 6.5 as the panel is exactly the same...

Thank you for your willingness to scan the manual for me, I am grateful.

I can't seem to post any pics of it here... If you message me with your email, I'll send you pics....

Thanks again,

Warm regards !

.... Mine doesn't not have any fuses on the front, it had 1 ckt breaker on the right side of the gen... Looks like a light switch in your home.. But it's a breaker

Larry ,
From the size of your Class C it's most likely an Emerald BGE 4.0.
If you need a manual I can send it, I rebuilt one back in 1993.
In fact I have one in my shop all apart.

Look Here >>http://www.perr.com/onan.html
