Good Morning Everyone! Coffee was good today!
Well, got the 3 stiches out of my hand today, and the Dr. sent me to physical therapy, and then every other day for a week! I have one more day of keeping it dry, then no more "bag hand" in the shower! Showering with one hand in a bag is a PITA!
Lloyd, we are looking at coming back to get the MH on April 11th, 12th, or 13th, just not sure exactly yet! Jira has to secure the time off from work first! Plans are to fly into O'Hare, then fly down to Tampa, pick up "Mona" and take a nice slow drive up to visit Jira's cousin that lives by Myrtle Beach, then, weather permitting, up to Niagara Falls, then back down to Illinois! Subject to change! Yep, my buddy Dave that went down to get it, and drove it back up to Hernando Beach, said it drive's "Sweet" and has no wandering or shaking, and is very smooth and quiet! He said he wanted to keep going, and said good luck finding him?
Tim, I think you should be able to find a drug store in Yuma that can help you, or maybe it is a Az. thing, and it might be better to go to Blyth, Ca. and try there? It is closer, and just a short cruze down the interstate, 20 miles or so? I guess you did not see the MH I told you about? It looked like a "Heck-of-a-Deal" I think it was about the time your lap top took a dump? You will have to go back to find the post now! I also sent you a PM about it? It was on RVtrader.com and at a dealer's lot in Yuma! A 1991/? Gulfstream Friendship 37' 300 hp. Cummins DP w/a diesel 7.5 Onan! 80,000 miles! $13,900 dls!
Gordon, enjoy the snow!
Bap, I hope you find something to get you some relief!
Lynne, remember it is Michigan, and just as soon as you get the MH home, you will get feet of snow the next day!
I remember last April in Wy. and it was cold and snowing!
Everyone have a great day! Rail!

Goooodmorning all y’all!!!

Enjoying another sunny Arizona day along with my morning coffee.

Yesterday morning I spent a few hours tinkering with my new shotgun acquisition, which by the way Popeye I acquired by trading another firearm I had, so no intervention needed! Not yet anyhow… The tinkering involved cleaning the barrel bores, checking for serious rust pitting (always a good idea with damascus barrels) and cleaning/lubricating the locks. About all I have left is soak off the old finish with acetone, refinish the wood and the old thunderstick should look great hanging on my wall and perform well in the field.

I’m hoping later this week to take a mine tour in Bisbee AZ. I wanted to take the tour in 2014 but never got around to it, I don’t plan to miss it this year!

I may be staying in Sierra Vista until the end of May. I’d planned on spending a month in Flagstaff but man alive, the RV parks up there are really proud of their facilities. One park wanted $600/month and a 5 month commitment! Come May 15th I’ll spend a week exploring the Flagstaff/North-South Grand Canyon area in my Caravan and just car camp. I’m still not certain where I want to go this summer… decisions decisions!

Rail, I spent 5 weeks in the Niagara Falls area last summer helping a friend rehab a house he inherited. The US side of Niagara Falls has become pretty scruffy. Most of the local industry is gone, replaced by HUGE landfills. It seems the waste management business has taken over the area. The Canadian side of Niagara Falls is much nicer, make sure you have your passport! My friends place was in adjacent Lewiston NY, which is quite nice. BTW, Smith Brothers Pizza in Lewiston, not at all pretentious, but has great pizza! In particular, their Sicilian pizza is fantastic! Hill-vue café in Lewiston serves wonderful and inexpensive breakfasts and lunches.

To all of you in the Great White North, it’s the last day of February, a few more weeks and spring will be upon you! Just gotta keep on keepin’ on.

Morning. Looking like a nice sunny day today with highs in the 60s. It's been kind of freakishly warm for February even had a day that was up in the 80s and I was running the AC for a bit. I'm hoping we actually have spring come in rather soon instead of winter coming back full force after teasing us with all this nice weather.

Since it's going to rain rather hard tomorrow I think I will tick off a few more things on my todo list and do another walk around to see if there's anything I missed.

I took this picture on one of those warm days just relaxing on the couch and looking out into the pasture. I love the company here I just hope I can get my financial situation (no real job to speak of) fixed sometime this year.

Good Afternoon All,

Rail, if you plan to do Niagara Falls in April, bring your long johns. It probably won't warm up up there until middle of May unless we get some unseasonably warm weather. It's beautiful though and about 5 hrs from us. Make sure to bring the passport as suggested. Duty free shops at the border that have some lovely stuff.

I won't get the MH out until there is no threat of snow or freezing temps. Probably end of April. Will get that work done on it before then though before the guy gets too busy. Most CG's don't open until then anyway. Don't want to freeze their pipes.

Very windy today. Most snow melted yesterday and Sat and they say 3 to 5 inches of the white stuff again tomorrow. At least I know the Prius will get me to w--k and back. I am ready for Spring!

Take care and I hope you each stay safe and loved.

Well the first day of playing in the snow is in the books. No skid marks left to mark my passage so a doubly successful day.

Janet had a great day. Hip seems to work well and her skiing is like nothing ever happened. She has been off for two years and could not tell. I am very pleased and she is ecstatic.

Good Morning everyone! On my second cup, Mmmmmmmm!
Steve, thanks for a heads up, and we will check out the Lewiston area, sounds good!! Back in my working days, I delivered Slots to the Casino downtown Niagara!
Terry, you are right, they baked it yesterday! It is stiff, and the next week will be fun for sure! The hot wax is next!
Gordon, I still remember my first time on ski's, I looked like the cartoon, a big ball of snow with arms and legs and ski's sticking out, coming down the hill!! But I did get the hang of it! Glad Janet had a good time and her hip was up for the challenge!
Popeye, Lynne, remember my statement, "Weather Permitting" And I will pack some long-john's! Hehehe! " rolling luxury liner"
wschaub, looks like your "friends" are waiting for some "sweet feed" or maybe a apple or two! Hope the job you are looking for drops into your lap!
Everyone have a great day! Rail!

A couple of down jackets should cover it !
I just stuff mine in a pillowcase when I don't need it.

We'll leave a light on...

Good Evening gang,
Weather is getting warmer everyday, mid to upper 70's, lows in the upper 40's to low 50's. Well Dad went back to Tenn. so now have time to get the 5er ready for the trip out to Jay's. Have to install the E-ZFlex equalizers and wet bolts when I repack the wheel bearings. Have to change the bedroom slide gaskets and the topper. The parts are on order. Then wash the roof and caulk as needed. After all that wash and wax. If I have time, then it is removing some of the decals and painting them back on, at least, the worst ones.

Gordon,
Glad that you are having a good time, and that Janet is having a blast with no problems with the hip.

Rail,
Make sure you call me when you get over here, Dave lives about 20 minutes from me.

Have a great day all,
Frank

Visiting Niagara Falls USA

I live in Niagara Falls. Most campgrounds don't open up until mid April to mid May. Let me know If you want me to research it for you. Plenty of museums to do indoors if the weather is cold or rainy. You could probably park at the Seneca Niagara Casino. It would be dry camping. Send me a PM if I can help you in any way.

Goooodmorning all y’all!!!

It’s 6am and still dark. On Tuesday morning I go on the SV Hiking Club’s 4.2 mile “conditioning hike” to middle Carr Falls so it behooves me to start my day earlier than normal. My morning coffee sure hits the spot at this hour!

I’ve been soaking the maple wood stock of my new thunderstick in acetone to remove the old finish. I pulled it out about a half hour ago and the old finish is history. Now to apply a little homemade wood stain to hi-light the beautiful wood grain/figure and then about a dozen very thin coats of gunstock finishing linseed oil compound and she’s done. BTW, lately I’ve been getting visited by the black dog more often than I care to admit. I’ve found that this kind of hands-on tinkering has a therapeutic affect that helps brighten my day.

Gordon, your skiing sounds like fun. I used to ski when I was about 10 years old. I had pre-WWII hand-me-down wood skis with bear-trap bindings. As luck would have it I broke my leg going up a ski tow! I tried skiing the next year but one of my skis had lost all its camber and I couldn’t make turns worth a darn. I tried skiing again in about 2004 using modern skis, bindings, and boots. The best part is I had a good time and didn't break anything.

So that’s about it, I’m glad all y’all in the Great White North are starting to get some warm days. It won’t be long now and y’all will be grousing about the heat!

Steve
