Gordon,

I could not transfer Norton which we still had 10 mos left on the subscribtion and had to purchase new securuty software. Also, how did you install your contacts apparently "10" requires you to add them manually.

Hi Mike;
I have generally used Windows Defender. We have tried Norton (big footprint), McAffee (generally obnoxious) and AVG (OK but not great). Last few years have been with Defender.

Have not transfered anything to the computer yet. Just got them and they did not include the key for Office with the computers. Supposed to be here tomorrow.

Currently planning on taking the Outlook file and hooking to that. Has been successful the last transfers I did on previous computers. Moved from XP to Vista to 7 that way. Will have to see if it still works in 10.

Apparently I need to use a stylus when posting. I will visit the geeks tomorrow for help with contacts. In the past we always used our IT techs for upgrades, one of the few perks lost when you retire.

I can see you now , walking around the place , pointing to something and saying "YOU are not WORTHY !" and move it to the bye bye pile!
You will be King of the castle again , instead of the castle being King of you ! (Enjoy the lawn mowing cuz soon you won't have to be doing that anymore !)

We will of course need another picture of the truck when you get it out in
the SUN!

Steve
I wish I was on some of those hikes with you.....pics !!!!

Lloyd
We had an old power Co. bucket truck at one of the campgrounds I worked electric crew at, The boom leaked bad too........we put a diaper on it , topped the fluid and got 'er done ! Glad you got it home with minor probs.
Sounds like you'll have to play the "You are not worthy game too !

Frank
Anybody have a camera with video capability ?

Rail
Finally at the helm of MONA for the first time!
Those systems will be a piece of cake , if you run into questions , POST "EM UP !

Gordon
McAfee has a removal tool that WILL remove it ALL !
I don't use the word ALL lightly either.......
What did you replace it with..... MS Defender?

Everybody up here in the still too cold north...
Keep your fingers crossed , this might be the END !

Hi Popeye;
Yup used the removal tool on both computers. Stuff progressed after that. Then things worked. I am going to reset my computer and remove McAffee as one of the first things I do. See how that works. With McAffee on it got several error messages on the Window Update but the when I asked it to update again it said all of the updates were current?????

I believe Mr Gates owes me several nights in his house. My time and effort probably built a bit of it.

I expect we will be getting pictures this evening. Actually I hope they are enjoying themselves so much it is several days before they have time to post!

Problems solved (for now)! Geek squad installed Windows Live and then we were able to merge the files on the contact list.

Agree on both comments.
Norton and McAfee both are processor HOGS , amazing any computers work at all with them running.
I use MS security with Malwarebytes on all of mine.
I really like MWB , running their Anti Malware as well as the new
, Anti Exploit and Anti Ransomware.
(Most of staying safe online is where you go and what you click on IMO.)

Mr G's going to have to wait for my W 10 contribution...

Rail's new baby is getting all the attention , it would be the same if it were mine !

H 12Mike
Glad they got it working for you. That's what I was referring to when I said you need to be signed in to get some features to work , sorry for not being more specific.

Here you go Popeye. Every week I do a 4.4 mile “conditioning hike” to the middle waterfalls of the stream that flows through Carr Canyon.

This photo was taken from where I park my car. The notch up along the skyline is the destination, it’s a 1000’ elevation gain.

Here’s a photo looking down from an area adjacent to the notch I pointed out in the first photo. You can see my red Caravan parked along the road.
The sad part is I’m one of the slower hikers in the SV Hiking Club. A far cry from my middle-aged crazy days of 16 years ago.

Steve;
I agree with Popeye. It is all about the view. Looks the same whether you get there in 10 minutes or an hour. And it always isn't the best from the top. Sometimes the best views are passed by in our rush for the top.

It is about the journey and sometimes taking it slow lets you see everything. Reminds me of a story about the old bull and the young bull!

Here ya go! We are still badly jet lagged, and today, we went and had a very nice lunch with some friend's at the Chart House on Tampa Bay! Frank and I are going to look at a couple of things tomorrow on Mona, see if we can get the water heater to light on propane, it is heating on 110 now. And the jacks are not working, the light comes on but you can't here the pump running? Will also take some more pic's tomorrow too! Hope these tease you a little! Rail!
